Maximum Survivalist Personal Survival Kit

Heres a new survival kit that we are currently selling on our site. It includes all the essentials that are time tested and will help your odds when faced with problems in the wilderness.
A look inside the kit
Here is some of the included instructions and give a look into why we chose what we did to put in the kit.

Maximum Survivalist PSK (Personal Survival Kit)

This kit is designed to aid you if you’re faced with a survival situation. It should remain on your person at all times. It’s good to practice and familiarize yourself with the kit prior to taking it out in the field with you.

The survival tin is painted in a tactical color to help with camouflage for military personal. If you are a civilian, affixing a brightly colored piece of tape will aid if finding your kit if dropped in the wilderness. The tin can be used for boiling water or cooking food in a pinch. The inner lid of the kit can be used as a signaling device and can be polished with moist dirt to make it even brighter.

Everything chosen for this kit has multiple purposes. Let’s talk about the contents and uses.

We chose a BIC Lighter because of its reliability and after fuel runs out the flint can be used to spark the Tinder Quik tabs. If you are injured having a one-handed fire lighting device is critical, another reason why we chose the BIC. In the event of a malfunction of the lighter, we have enclosed a fire steel. The fire steel can be used with the razor knife to emit a shower of sparks onto your tinder.

The included tinder is Tinder Quik tabs. They are waterproof and just need to be peeled apart on one end to work. Inside the fishing kit is extra cotton tinder, its enclosed in the vial to help with waterproofing. The Triple Antibiotic ointment can be applied to the cotton tinder to help as a flame extender. The Duct tape can also be stripped apart to be used as tinder with the lighter.

Signaling comes in the form of a whistle. 3 short blast is the universal signal for help. This is a pealess design that works well. As I mentioned above the lid of the tin can be used as a signaling mirror. For night time signaling you can use the LED light included.

The Button compass has been added to help aid in navigation. Find a cardinal direction and head that way. This will keep you from walking in circles.

The orange handled utility knife is your cutting tool. Its handle will keep it getting lost on the forest floor. It can be affixed to the LED light keychain to prevent it from being lost. There is no substitution for a fixed blade knife and I suggest having one of those on you as well.

The fishing kit can be used to catch fish as well as small birds.

The paracord bracelet can be taken out of the kit and worn daily if you so choose. It was designed to be the cordage for this kit. You can construct a shelter with it, make a bow drill fire kit, or used to make more fishing line by using the inner strands. Really its uses are endless. The zip ties can also be used for gear repair or shelter construction.

On the medical side, we’ve included bandaids and antibiotic. To help with small cuts. There is water purification tablets as well.

Hope that you never have to use this kit in a real situation. But if you do I hope it serves you well.

SOL Origin Survival Kit

The sol origin survival kit  is a abs plastic water case .with a flip- signal mirror, fire striker, compass and a folding - blade knife are stowed on the outside  of the case .What is so nice about this is some of this items can be used while still in the case such as the compass, whistle and the LED light..The compass is very useful and the box has been demagnetized so that it can be used while still on the box. Now  while having some of the items are on the outside like your knife, compass, whistle, fire striker led light .you can open up to the inside and there you will find 150lb.- test braided nylon cord,mil-spec stainless wire, tinder quik, fire starting tinder, aluminum foil, safety pins and 62 tips on survival.

There is extra room inside the kit to add more items for you to personalize the kit. The lid of the kit has a acrylic signaling mirror and it can be used with the kit being closed. I've tested it out to some pretty far distances and its rated as being tested out to 20 miles. The flash light can also be used for signaling. The spark wheel striker can be held up in the air and striked to make a signal also.

Some extra space can be given by removing the wrist lanyard and hooking it to the outside of the box. It keeps it handy.

Buck Tildon has written the survival tips book that is included in the kit. It has 62 survival tips in it to help you survive, pretty good stuff. The color of the kit is bright orange to help you find it in your backpack or if you drop it on the ground.

I reviewed the Spark Lite fire starter and the Firestriker is very similar. The tinder quick tabs work good, especially when wet. You just pull them apart and spark the wheel and you got fire. They will burn about 3-4 minutes. But you can also use them with matches, lighters, or firesteel.

This is a good personal survival kit. Its small and lightweight and easy to carry and the whole kit weighs 6.25 ounces. You can buy these at Sportsman's Warehouse. Check out Adventure Medical kits for more information.

BIC Lighter

One of the things that I keep in my PSK (personal survival kit) is a BIC lighter. I know that you think a lighter well I don't smoke, but think for just a minute. If you are in an area where you don't have electricity then a lighter will serve you well. As long as you keep it dry you can light fires, and sure it to signal for help among other things, such as lighting a can of gasoline to blow up some zombies. So when you are making your own PSK, one of the things you may want to put into it is a BIC lighter. It can also be a back up for your firesteel or matches. And they are super cheap and can be purchased about anywhere. Always remember to get a bright colored lighter so it can be found if dropped. In a pinch you can also use the sparking wheel when the fuel runs out. We are trying to prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse/Natural Disasters and will continue with these articles.

Personal Survival Kit Containers

You can choose any type of container for a PSK, its what works for you. It can be an otterbox or Altoids tin. I chose the otterbox because of its waterproofness. Basically you  need something small enough to carry on your person and that will protect your contents. An otterbox roughly cost around 9 buck where an Altoids tin cost around 2 bucks.

Another reason I chose the otterbox is because its clear and I can easily identify my contents. Its virtually indestructible.

Take time to develop your kit, do it once and do it right. Then always keep it on your person.

My Personal Survival Kit

This is my personal survival pocket kit. The reason I chose this kit is because I wanted to tell people my thought process and what I think makes a good kit. I’ve made kits out of Altoid’s cans and it wasn't what I was looking for. I also see people trying to pack all kinds of items in there personal kit. And let me tell you; you cant pack as much as we would like to in our kits. I have a 72 hour bag and I can't put enough in it. So I look at what I carry everday (EDC) like my redline flashlight (which is 220 lumens and strobe function), Gerber multi-tool and my 2 Kershaw tactical folders (that’s the reason I do not add cutting tools to my kit, because I carry them in my EDC). You also need to see what you have in your surroundings; like what you have in your car, boat, home etc... You don’t know what would be useful in your time of need like a tie tools, flares, blankets etc. So these things we neglect are the very things we can use in a survival situation. I carry these things on me at all times.
