How to Make a Char Cloth

Today I am going to walk you through making a char cloth. First you should find a small tin, I used an Altoid container, and you should punch a small hole in the center or the lid. Afterwards you need to get some cotton, linen or jute and cut it into 1-2 inch strips. Place the strips in your tin, then you need to build a camp fire or use a camping stove placed on low heat. Now let's get started, place the tin on or in  your fire with your cloth on the inside, and make sure to close the lid. It will start to smoke heavily so make sure you are doing this in an open area. When the smoking stops you will have yourself a char cloth, but remember to allow the tin to cool before opening it. Char cloth is a wonderful thing to use for starting a fire with, matter a fact it's what was used many years ago before the match was invented.
